Bhubaneswar: The Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja today held a meeting with all District Collectors through virtual mode to review the availability of fertilisers for the Kharif season. The meeting aimed to address the problems faced by farmers in obtaining fertilisers as per their requirements.

The Chief Secretary emphasised that due to good monsoon rains this year, the state government’s priority is to provide the required amount of fertilisers to farmers. He directed the officials to strengthen the monitoring system at the state and district levels to ensure that fertilisers reach farmers properly.

As per the latest update, a total of 11 lakh 33 thousand 776 metric tons of fertilisers have been made available to Odisha for Kharif 2025. So far, 9.16 lakh metric tons of fertilisers have been sold, and 2 lakh 7 thousand 220 metric tons are still available.

The Chief Secretary reviewed the availability of fertilisers in various districts and gave necessary instructions to ensure that fertilisers are distributed to farmers as per their requirements. He also emphasised taking strict action against illegal fertiliser brokers and smugglers.

The Principal Secretary, Agriculture and Farmers Empowerment Department, Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee, stated that the need for fertilisers has increased due to good monsoon rainfall and farmers’ interest in paddy cultivation. The Director of Agriculture and Cooperative Department are regularly monitoring the availability and distribution of fertilisers to farmers.

The Chief Secretary has directed the District Collectors to review the situation regularly, estimate the requirement of urea fertiliser for the upcoming Kharif season, and ensure that fertilisers are not sold at higher prices than the prescribed rates.
