Bhubaneswar: A fresh low-pressure system is expected to form over the central and north Bay of Bengal around September 13-14, bringing increased rainfall to Odisha, according to the India Metrological Department.
As per the IMD prediction, the rainfall is expected to increase from September 10, with heavy rainfall likely in various parts of the state on September 13. Accordingly, residents are advised to stay alert and prepared for potential disruptions.
Due to the impending low-pressure, the southern part of the state will be most affected, with Malkangiri and Koraput districts likely to receive the heaviest rainfall.
The districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Rayagada, Gajapati, and Nabarangapur are expected to experience heavy rainfall. Meanwhile, Malkangiri and Koraput have been issued an orange warning for extremely heavy rainfall on September 11 and 12. A yellow warning has been issued for lightning and thunderstorms across Odisha today, advising residents to be cautious.
