Bhubaneswar: Director General of Police (DGP) Yogesh Bahadur Khurania has assured that the state police are working diligently to crack three significant cases currently under investigation. These cases include the murder of Berhampur lawyer Pitabas Panda, the SI recruitment scandal, and the escape of two inmates from Choudwar jail.
DGP made this statement at the inauguration of 70th State Police Duty Meet held at the Reserve Police Ground in Buxi Bazar, Cuttack. DGP Khurania graced the occasion as the chief guest, formally declaring the event open.
Regarding the lawyer’s murder, DGP Khurania stated that significant developments have been made in the investigation, and the case will be solved soon.
In the Police SI recruitment scandal case, he warned that all accused will be arrested shortly, and the police have taken stringent measures to ensure the smooth conduct of future exams. The Crime Branch is investigating the case and is expected to make arrests soon.
He further said, “Before the exam, instructions were given to the Police Headquarters of every district in the state, Special Branch, and Crime Branch to keep close watch on recruitment proceedings so that the SI recruitment exam could be conducted smoothly without any irregularities. Due to this, we were able to apprehend those involved before the exam.”
In the case of the jailbreak, DGP said, “The police are actively working to apprehend the two escaped inmates, Raja Sahani and Madhukant Kumar.”
The DGP emphasized that the police are committed to maintaining law and order in the state and will take strict action against those involved in criminal activities. He assured that the police will solve these cases soon and bring the perpetrators to justice.
