Cuttack: With just four days left for the commencement of the historic Cuttack Baliyatra, preparations are in full swing across the city. On Saturday, the Baliyatra 2025 Awareness Chariot was officially launched at the lower ground of the Baliyatra venue.
The awareness van was flagged off by Cuttack Collector Dattatreya Bhausaheb Shinde, who announced that this year’s Baliyatra will be held from November 5 to November 12.
The awareness chariot will tour 10 coastal districts of Odisha, spreading awareness about the glorious maritime legacy of the state and inviting people to be part of the grand celebration in Cuttack.
Describing Baliyatra as a symbol of Odisha’s rich culture, tradition, and maritime heritage, Shinde said the festival commemorates the indomitable spirit of the Odia sadhabas—the ancient sea traders who voyaged to countries such as Bali, Java, Sumatra, and Indonesia to build commercial and cultural ties centuries ago.
Present at the launch ceremony were CMC Commissioner Kiran Deep Kaur, Additional District Magistrate Ipsita Mishra, and several other dignitaries.
