Rayagada: In a tragic road accident, a five-year-old boy lost his life while his parents sustained serious injuries after their motorcycle was hit by an unidentified vehicle near the Ramakrishna Mission in Hatmuniguda under Muniguda police station limits in Rayagada district on Wednesday.

According to reports, the deceased child has been identified as Tapas Sagadia (5), son of Jadu Sagadia and Savitri Sagadia, residents of Daliakuji village under Muniguda police limits. The family was returning home after visiting Christian Hospital in Bisam Cuttack when the accident occurred.

The impact of the collision was so severe that Tapas died on the spot. Locals immediately rushed to the scene and rescued the injured couple, who were then shifted to Christian Hospital, Bisam Cuttack, for treatment.

Meanwhile, Muniguda police have reached the spot, seized the vehicle debris, and launched an investigation to trace the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run incident.

The tragic mishap has cast a pall of gloom over the family’s village, with locals demanding stricter measures for road safety and immediate identification of the culprit.
