Bhubaneswar: A cyclonic circulation which lay over the Gulf of Thailand and neighbourhood yesterday, persists over the Strait of Malacca, informed the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
According to the IMD, the system is active over the Malacca Strait and extends up to 9.4 km above mean sea level. The system is likely to move into the Andaman Sea region by October 11. Under its influence, a low pressure area is likely to form over the southeast Bay of Bengal around October 13, the IMD said.
The IMD is closely monitoring the system and further intensification will be updated in subsequent bulletins.
