Bhubaneswar: The counting of votes for the 71-Nuapada Assembly Constituency bye-election will take place on November 14, under tight security and full transparency. The polling process, held on November 11, recorded an impressive voter turnout of 83.45%, with female voters exceeding male voters.
The election was marked by meticulous planning, robust security, and active cooperation from voters, polling officials, candidates, and other stakeholders, resulting in a smooth, transparent, and incident-free polling day.
The Chief Electoral Officer, Odisha, extended gratitude to voters, polling personnel, and media representatives for their cooperation and contribution to the democratic process.
Polling was peaceful even in sensitive and Left-Wing Extremism-affected areas, with no untoward incidents reported. Two Presiding Officers, Dhananjay Mallik and Sandeep Swain, were suspended for violating the secrecy of voting. EVMs and VVPATs were replaced at some polling stations due to technical issues, ensuring uninterrupted polling.
Allegations of impersonation and voting mismatch were investigated and found to be baseless. EVMs and VVPATs are stored in a secure Strong Room with three-tier security and CCTV surveillance.
The bye-election has set a model for efficiency, integrity, and public participation, reflecting the deep democratic commitment of Nuapada’s electorate.
