Bhadrak: A man allegedly hurled bombs at his father-in-law’s house late Saturday night, leaving the family terrified in Apanda village under Bansada police limits in Bhadrak district.
According to reports, Sridhar Nayak of Apanda village in the Bant area had married Mamuni, daughter of Ram Chandra Mahalika of Bijaya Patana village under Karanpalli Panchayat, in a love marriage. While the couple initially lived together peacefully, disagreements and frequent quarrels later arose over several issues.
Following escalating disputes, Mamuni returned to her parental home. A community-level meeting, held in the presence of village elders, later decided that the couple should live separately.
Blaming Mamuni’s family for the separation, Sridhar allegedly sought revenge. Late Saturday night, he, along with two friends, reportedly hurled bombs at his father-in-law’s house. The explosion damaged parts of the asbestos roof, though no casualties were reported.
Hearing the blast, villagers rushed to the scene and intercepted the two associates along with their motorcycle. Sridhar, however, managed to flee the spot.
Acting on information from local residents, Bansada police reached the location and detained the two men for questioning. Following the incident, Sridhar’s mother-in-law, Arnapurna Mahalika, filed a formal complaint at the police station. The police have since launched an investigation into the attack.
