Bhubaneswar: Renowned sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik has created a stunning sand sculpture at Puri Beach in Odisha to pay tribute to the legendary Bollywood actor Dharmendra, who passed away on Monday.
The 5-foot-long sculpture, crafted using nearly six tonnes of sand, beautifully captures Dharmendra’s iconic screen presence and is a testament to his enduring legacy in Indian cinema.
Pattnaik, a Padma Shri awardee, described Dharmendra as ‘an emotion for millions’ and recalled his extraordinary six-decade-long career spanning over 300 films. The sand art features the message ‘RIP Dharmendra Ji, End of an Era,’ reflecting the nation’s deep admiration and respect for the veteran actor.
Taking to his X handle, he wrote: “A heartfelt tribute to the evergreen legend Dharmendra Ji — truly the end of an era in Indian cinema.”
The tribute has been widely appreciated on social media, with many celebrities and fans expressing their condolences and sharing their favourite memories of Dharmendra.
Dharmendra’s memorable performances in films like Sholay, Phool Aur Patthar, and Chupke Chupke left an everlasting impact. Iconic dialogues such as “Kutte, kamine, main tera khoon pi jaaunga!” and “Basanti, in kutton ke saamne mat nachna!” continue to resonate across generations.
