Bhubaneswar: A minor girl was allegedly gangraped in front of her male friend on the Daya riverbank under the Dhauli police limits.
According to reports, the girl and her male friend had gone to the area on December 10 when two miscreants, who were later joined by others, intercepted the duo and demanded money. When the boy refused, they dragged him to a secluded spot and attacked him with sharp objects and stones.
The girl was then allegedly gangraped by the two men, who also recorded the crime on their mobile phones. The accused threatened the victim with dire consequences if she revealed the incident to anyone.
The Commissionerate police have arrested two persons in connection with the crime and are on the lookout for the others involved.
Those arrested have been identified as Bibhuprasad Mishra of Banki in Cuttack district and Kalandi Patra of Olatpur.
Meanwhile, the victim’s statement has been recorded, and the investigation is underway.
The Commissionerate Police have assured that they will leave no stone unturned in bringing the perpetrators to justice.
