Bhubaneswar: Senior IAS officer Deoranjan Kumar Singh on Friday took charge as the Development Commissioner of Odisha.
Singh expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi for the responsibility and pledged to work towards achieving the ‘Viksit Odisha’ goal set by the state government.
Talking to the media, he said, “I pray to Lord Jagannath to grant me the strength and wisdom to fulfil the responsibility entrusted upon me by the Odisha government. As we embark on a new journey of development, our goal is to make Odisha prosperous by 2036 and contribute to a developed India by 2047.”
He continued: “Lord Jagannath has blessed Odisha with abundant resources, from mines to water, and a strong democratic foundation. Paired with our incredibly hardworking people, I’m confident we can achieve our dream of a Prosperous Odisha by 2036 if we come together with a sense of ownership, thinking ‘this is our state, our nation’.”
“Having worked as a district collector, I understand the challenges on the ground. We focus on crafting effective policies, and I urge all officers at the district level to implement them diligently for Odisha’s progress,” he maintained.
Notably, the General Administration and Public Grievance Department issued a notification on Thursday announcing the reshuffle of IAS officers with immediate effect.
As per the notification, 1993 batch IAS officer Deoranjan Kumar Singh, previously Additional Chief Secretary, Revenue & Disaster Management Department, has been appointed as Development Commissioner-cum-Additional Chief Secretary and Secretary to Government, Planning & Convergence Department. However, he will continue to hold the additional charge of Additional Chief Secretary, Revenue & Disaster Management Department.
