Bhubaneswar: In a remarkable rescue operation, forest personnel successfully saved three elephants on Tuesday after they had fallen into an open well in Tinkbir (Baranali) village under the Reamal range in Deogarh district.
According to reports, the incident came to light around 4:15 pm when a local villager alerted the authorities. Immediately, the Range Officer of Reamal, Deputy Range Officer, forest guards, and staff from the Reamal Range rushed to the site to initiate the rescue.
Using a JCB machine to create a ramp along the well, the team was able to safely extract all three elephants within 50 minutes. The rescued animals were part of a herd of 18 elephants moving through the Budido Beat area of Reamal Section.
By 5:10 pm, the elephants were safely rejoined with their herd. The forest department confirmed that the operation was completed smoothly without any injuries to the animals or the rescuers.
