Bhubaneswar: A youth was critically injured following a group clash triggered by a verbal altercation at Baji Rout Chhak in Dhenkanal district on Monday afternoon.
The injured youth has been identified as Dipun Pradhan. He sustained serious injuries in the assault and was initially taken to a local hospital before being referred to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for advanced medical care.
According to reports, the incident began when a group of youths from Malhara Sahi allegedly assaulted a youth from Ragadi Sahi. The situation soon escalated into a violent confrontation between members of both groups. Preliminary investigation suggests that the dispute was long-standing, and Monday’s clash may have stemmed from previous enmity.
On receiving information, Dhenkanal Town Police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
However, no formal complaint had been lodged in connection with the incident at the time of filing this report.
An investigation is underway.
