Bhubaneswar: At least four people, including two women, were critically injured after a crude bomb exploded in the outskirts of Bhubaneswar on Tuesday. The incident occurred at Sundarpada New Azad Nagar under Airfield police station limits.
According to preliminary information, the explosion took place on the roof of a building when the crude bomb was allegedly being handled or fixed. The blast caused severe injuries to all four individuals present at the site.
Soon after the incident, two fire tenders were rushed to the spot to control the situation and ensure safety in the surrounding area. Senior police officials, including the Bhubaneswar Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), reached the location and initiated an investigation. Personnel from the Airfield police station have also begun a detailed probe into the circumstances leading to the explosion.
The incident triggered panic among local residents, with many expressing concern over the growing incidents of violence and unlawful activities in the state capital. The injured were shifted to Capital Hospital, where their condition is stated to be critical.
Police officials are examining whether the explosive was being prepared or stored at the location and are questioning individuals connected to the case. Further details are awaited as the investigation progresses.
