Bhubaneswar: President of India, Droupadi Murmu, graced the convocation ceremony of Fakir Mohan University and inaugurated its new Auditorium today. In her address, she paid tribute to Vyasakabi Fakir Mohan Senapati, citing his timeless story ‘Revati’ as a source of inspiration.
“The determination of a girl to pursue her education in the 19th century is an enduring testament to her spirit,” she said, drawing parallels with her own life journey from a remote tribal village to the highest office in the land.
President Murmu stressed the importance of mother tongue, quoting Fakir Mohan Ji, “My mother tongue is supreme to me.” She highlighted the National Education Policy-2020’s emphasis on promoting education in one’s native language, allowing students to connect with their culture and values.
She encouraged students to explore India’s rich knowledge tradition, citing ancient scriptures and manuscripts that hold wisdom in various fields. “By understanding the past and comprehending the present, you can shape your future and the country'” she said.
Addressing the graduating students, she advised, “Successful life and meaningful life are not the same. Make life meaningful by doing something for others.” She urged them to help those left behind in their developmental journey, emphasizing that “development of society lies in the development of everyone.”
The President praised Fakir Mohan University’s focus on research, outreach programs, and initiatives like ‘Back to School’ and ‘Earn While Learn’. She expressed confidence that the university will play a transformative role in promoting inclusive growth, innovation, and social transformation.
