Bhubaneswar: Odisha is set to roll out the nationwide Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination campaign, targeting adolescent girls to prevent cervical cancer. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the program on February 28, with Chief Minister Mohan Majhi representing Odisha in the nationwide event.
The vaccination program will provide a single dose to girls up to 14 years, while three doses will be administered from age 14 until marriage. The Odisha government has allocated Rs 311 crore for the Chief Minister’s Cancer Treatment Campaign, aiming to prevent various types of cancer.
Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling emphasized that the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening women’s health and eliminating preventable cancers. The HPV vaccination campaign is expected to cover nearly 1.15 crore girls aged 14 every year, marking a significant milestone in achieving the vision of “Swastha Nari”
