Bhubaneswar: As many as 108 LPG cylinders were seized from an illegal storage unit operating in a residential area of the city during a raid conducted by the Civil Supplies Enforcement Squad on Wednesday.
Acting on specific inputs, the team carried out the operation in the Ganesh Bazar area of Jharpada, under the jurisdiction of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC). The raid was led by the Civil Supply Officer (CSO) of Khordha, Gyanindriya Mishra, along with the Additional CSO, Additional Civil Supply Officer (ACSO), and Marketing Inspectors, in the presence of Commissionerate Police personnel.
Officials said the enforcement drive led to the detection of an unauthorised LPG storage point functioning in a densely populated locality. A total of 108 cylinders — including 95 domestic and 13 commercial — were recovered from the premises.
Authorities have initiated legal proceedings against those involved, and further investigation is underway to ascertain the source and intended distribution of the seized cylinders.
