Puri: After nearly six hours of Ganati Manati (inventory and assessment) of the Chalanti Ratna Bhandar of the Shree Jagannath Temple, Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Chief Administrator Dr Arabinda Kumar Padhee on Wednesday said advanced technology was deployed to document the process.

Dr Padhee informed that 3D mapping, along with photography and videography, was undertaken to ensure precise documentation and preparation of a comprehensive inventory of the temple’s movable treasures.

On the first day of the exercise, around 80 per cent of the valuables were assessed. The process included detailed enumeration of gold ornaments and other items used in the daily rituals of Lord Jagannath.

While refraining from disclosing the quantity or specifics of the items inventoried, the SJTA Chief Administrator said the remaining assessment would continue over the next few days.

Notably, the last inventory and assessment of the Ratna Bhandar was conducted in 1978, making the current exercise a significant development in the temple’s administrative history.

During the inventory process, public darshan from the Bhitara Katha was temporarily restricted, with devotees allowed to have darshan only from the Bahara Katha.
