Bhubaneswar: The Passing Out Parade of the 9th batch of five Deputy Superintendent of Police (Dy SP) Probationers was held today at the Biju Patnaik State Police Academy (BPSPA), the premier police training institution of Odisha.
The parade was conducted under the supervision of Shyni S, IPS, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) and Director (Training), BPSPA.BPSPA has earned national acclaim for its excellence in police training. It was awarded the prestigious Union Home Minister’s Trophy as the Best Police Training Institute in the country for the year 2021. Prior to this, the academy was adjudged the best police academy in the Eastern Zone continuously for four years — 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020.
The five probationers, selected through the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC), joined the academy on December 26, 2023. Their training included rigorous indoor and outdoor modules covering constitutional framework, human rights, criminology, police administration, new criminal laws (BNS, BNSS, BSA), forensic science, leadership, and practical field training. They also underwent AET training at Chandaka. After successfully completing both phases of institutional training, semester examinations, and field attachments, the probationers are now ready for deployment. The passing-out probationers are: Shrusty Pradhan (MA, MBA), Dibya Ranjan Nath (MSc), Sourav Ranjan Pradhan (MSc), Samarth Kumar Behera (MSc) and Pankaj Kumar Majhi (BSc).
During the Passing Out Parade, medals and trophies were awarded to outstanding performers Shrusty Pradhan, Sourav Ranjan Pradhan and Pankaj Majhi.
On this occasion, faculty members who contributed significantly to the training of the 9th batch were also felicitated by the Hon’ble DGP, Odisha. BPSPA expressed pride in dedicating these five young officers to public service. It is hoped that the new Dy SPs will serve the people of Odisha with empathy, professionalism, and a strong commitment to people-centric policing while upholding constitutional values and government priorities.
The event marks another milestone for BPSPA in producing well-trained, capable, and ethical police officers for the state.
