Cuttack: Bajrang Dal activists from Khordha chased and stopped three pickup vans allegedly transporting cows illegally from the Khordha side towards Cuttack. The interception took place on the Jatamundia Subarnapur Bridge in the Banki area.
According to reports, the youths pursued the speeding vans for some distance. In a hasty attempt to escape, one of the overloaded pickup vans overturned on the bridge. This caused chaos as cows from the vehicles scattered, with some sustaining injuries while roaming around the spot in a distressed condition. The driver of the vehicle managed to flee from the scene, leaving the vans behind.
Upon receiving information, police reached the location, seized the three vans along with around 30 cows and initiated a detailed investigation to uncover further details of the illegal transportation racket.
The Bajrang Dal activists, who had chased the vehicles from Khordha and handed them over to the police, meanwhile alleged that illegal cow transportation is increasing day by day in the region. They claimed that despite repeated incidents, the administration remains silent and inactive, thereby encouraging such unlawful activities.
