Bhubaneswar: A Plus III college student in Cuttack was allegedly kidnapped and gang-raped in a hotel in Puri. Cantonment Police arrested the mastermind behind the crime.
The main accused has been identified as Satyabrata Parida, a resident of Kalyanipur area under Binjharpur police station in Jajpur district. He was arrested by the police on Wednesday near Jajpur Road Railway Station.However, three other accomplices involved in the crime are still absconding.
According to reports, Satyabrata, who works in a company in Delhi, had a prior acquaintance with the girl. In February this year, Satyabrata allegedly kidnapped the girl on a bike from Cuttack and took her to Puri along with three of his friends. All four accused are residents of the Binjharpur area in Jajpur district. They travelled to Puri on two motorcycles. After reaching Puri, the group checked into a hotel. The minor girl was kept there and offered food and drinks. After consuming the food, the girl became unconscious. Taking advantage of her condition, Satyabrata and his three friends allegedly gang-raped her repeatedly inside the hotel room.
A case was registered at the Cantonment Police Station following the incident. While the main accused has been arrested, the police are intensifying efforts to trace and arrest the remaining three fugitives.
The accused Satyabrata Parida has been forwarded to court.
