Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday paid rich tributes to former Odisha Chief Minister Biju Patnaik on his death anniversary, reiterating his government’s commitment to building a prosperous and developed Odisha in line with the late leader’s vision.
After offering floral tributes at Patnaik’s statue on the premises of the Odisha Legislative Assembly, Majhi described “Biju Babu” as an industrialist, a veteran pilot, and a towering political figure who dedicated his life to the service of Odisha and its people.
Highlighting Patnaik’s legacy, the Chief Minister said he stood firmly for self-respect, the honour of Odisha, and the dignity of the nation throughout his life. “He never compromised on Odisha’s pride and self-esteem under any circumstances, which is why people affectionately called him ‘Biju Babu’ and held him in the highest regard,” Majhi said.
Recalling the late leader’s vision, Majhi noted that Patnaik had envisioned transforming Odisha into a developed state and worked tirelessly towards that goal. He asserted that the present government has already initiated efforts to build a “Samruddha Odisha” to fulfil those aspirations.
The Chief Minister further stated that his government is committed to realising Patnaik’s unfinished dreams and positioning Odisha on the global stage by reviving its identity and strengthening its development trajectory.
