Bhubaneswar: In view of the prevailing intense heatwave conditions and Red Warning issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the Collector and District Magistrate of Nuapada has ordered the closure of all schools in the district from April 20 to April 22, 2026.
According to an official order issued on April 18, all categories of schools — including government, government-aided, and private schools — elementary, secondary, higher secondary, as well as Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVS), Odisha Vidyalayas (OVS), Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNV) in Nuapada district will remain closed for three days to ensure the safety and security of students.
The order will be applicable to all types of educational institutions in the district. However, the supplementary examinations for Class V and Class VIII will be conducted during morning hours from 7 am to 9 am.
The district administration has directed schools to provide alternative refreshments such as fruits, juices, or ORS to the examinees and ensure their safety and security on the examination days.
Meanwhile, all teaching and non-teaching staff have been instructed to attend school as usual because census work, admissions, uniform distribution, and updating of school records are currently in progress.
