Bhubaneswar: Temperatures continued to rise across Odisha on Monday, with Titilagarh and Jharsuguda emerging as the hottest places in the state, according to the evening weather bulletin issued by the India Meteorological Department’s Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre.

Titilagarh recorded the highest maximum temperature at 42.5°C, followed closely by Jharsuguda at 42.4°C. Other places reporting very high temperatures included Talcher (42.0°C), Angul (41.8°C), Boudh (40.8°C), Sundargarh (40.8°C), Sonepur (40.3°C), Sambalpur and Rourkela (40.2°C each), and Paralakhemundi (40.6°C), indicating intense heat conditions across interior Odisha.

Coastal areas remained relatively less hot, with Paradip recording 31.7°C and Gopalpur 32.8°C, while Bhubaneswar registered a maximum temperature of 35.7°C. Chandbali, however, recorded a higher 38.4°C among coastal stations.

Minimum temperatures ranged between around 21°C and 27.7°C across the state, with little respite from warm night conditions in several districts.

Rainfall activity was sparse and localized. Hirakud recorded 21.2 mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours, while light rainfall was reported from Keonjhar (2.5 mm), Sambalpur (3.5 mm) and Sundargarh (0.5 mm). Most other stations remained dry.

High humidity levels persisted in coastal districts, contributing to discomfort, while interior regions experienced relatively lower afternoon humidity.
