Cuttack: In view of the prevailing heatwave-like conditions, the Cuttack district administration on Monday ordered the closure of all schools, anganwadi centres, and colleges for three days from April 21 to April 23 to safeguard children’s health.
According to an office order issued by the Collector and District Magistrate, all government, government-aided, and private schools in the district will remain shut during the period. Anganwadi centres have also been directed to suspend operations for the same duration.
Despite the closure, teachers of both government and private schools have been instructed to remain present at their respective institutions and conduct online classes to ensure completion of the academic syllabus.
The administration has further directed anganwadi centres to distribute take-home rations to beneficiaries in place of hot cooked meals during the closure period.
Meanwhile, all government, aided, and private colleges in the district will also remain closed in view of the heatwave conditions. However, examinations will be conducted as per the pre-scheduled timetable.
The order clarified that ongoing Census enumeration work will continue, with enumerators required to follow heatwave safety protocols while on duty.
The district administration warned that any violation of the order would be viewed seriously and dealt with as per the rules. The directive will remain in force until further instructions.
