Bhubaneswar: GRIDCO Ltd., a Government of Odisha undertaking, celebrated its 31st Foundation Day with great enthusiasm and participation at the Power Community Centre in Bhubaneswar on Monday.
The occasion was graced by Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, Deputy Chief Minister of Odisha, as the Chief Guest. The programme was also attended by Vishal Kumar Dev, Additional Chief Secretary of the Energy & Electronics and IT Department, Government of Odisha, who is also the Chairman of GRIDCO, along with Bhaskar Sarma, CMD of OPTCL; Kedar Ranjan Pandu, MD of OPGC; and other senior officials from the power sector.
In his address, the Deputy Chief Minister highlighted Odisha’s pioneering role in power sector reforms and appreciated GRIDCO’s contribution as a key pillar of the state’s power sector, ensuring energy security and a reliable power supply. He emphasised GRIDCO’s role in supporting Odisha’s growth and its transition towards a sustainable and future-ready energy ecosystem.
Vishal Kumar Dev, Additional Chief Secretary of the Energy & E&IT Department and Chairman of GRIDCO, in his remarks, underscored GRIDCO’s critical function as the single bulk power procurer and supplier, maintaining balance across the power value chain. He also highlighted the importance of integrating renewable energy while ensuring system stability and efficiency.
The Managing Director of GRIDCO, Satya Priya Rath, welcomed the gathering and reflected on the organisation’s journey since its inception in 1995, emphasising its evolution into a focused power aggregator. He reaffirmed GRIDCO’s commitment to supporting the state’s energy needs and future growth.
A key highlight of the event was the launch of the GRIDCO Case Repository System (GCRS) by the Deputy Chief Minister. The digital platform aims to streamline litigation management, enhance transparency, and improve coordination across departments.
The programme also featured a Best Employee Award ceremony, where outstanding employees were felicitated for their dedication and exemplary service. The event further included a vibrant cultural programme, showcasing performances by GRIDCO employees and their family members, adding a festive spirit to the celebration.
