Works Dept Reviews Progress Of Major Road & Bridge Projects In Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and Works Minister Prithviraj Harichandan have been consistently laying stress on strengthening roads and infrastructure to fast-track the overall development of the state.

The government has made it clear that there is no shortage of funds for developmental works.

Principal Secretary of the Works Department, Sanjay Kumar Singh, today directed senior officials to expedite all ongoing National Highway projects, State Highway projects, and Railway Over Bridge (ROB) projects so that they are completed within the stipulated time.

In separate review meetings held at the Works Department conference hall in Lok Seva Bhawan, Principal Secretary Sanjay Kumar Singh took stock of the progress of various key infrastructure projects across the state.

During the meeting, he reviewed important projects including the Capital Region Ring Road, Sambalpur Bypass, Chandikhole-Paradip road, Duburi-Chandikhole road, and the Coastal Highway. He also reviewed the progress of Bhajanagar-Aska National Highway, Berhampur Bypass, Khordha Bypass, Nayagarh Town Bypass, Jeypore Bypass, Kendrapara-Balikuda road, Kotpad Bypass, Baghamari Bypass, Balangir Town Bypass, widening of Kuakhia-Mangalpur road, improvement and widening of Jharsuguda-Panposh road, Nabarangpur Bypass, Dharmagarh Bypass, Borigumma Bypass, and the construction of high-level bridges over rivers including Baitarani and Tel.

Principal Secretary Singh instructed departmental officers, Chief Engineers, and Executive Engineers to resolve pending issues related to land acquisition, forest land diversion, and utility shifting on priority so that the projects can be executed at a faster pace.In a separate meeting on Railway Over Bridges, the progress of construction of 165 ROBs across the state and issues related to handing over of works were thoroughly reviewed.

The status of ROB projects in districts such as Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Bhadrak, Ganjam, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Rourkela, Balasore and others was discussed in detail. Officials were directed to expedite land acquisition in close coordination with District Collectors and Land Acquisition Officers.

The meetings were attended by Special Secretary (Engineering) L.K. Padhi, Chief Engineer (Bridges) Aravind Tripathi, Deputy Secretary Sundar Madhab Padhi, Chief Engineer (NH) N.H. Narayan Patel, Financial Advisor Ratikanta Mahapatra and other senior officers. Chief Engineers and Executive Engineers from different districts participated in the meeting through virtual mode.
