Bhadrak: Police rescued a youth and detained three persons following an alleged abduction near Petrol Pump Chhak under Bhadrak Town Police Station limits in Bhadrak district on Sunday.
According to reports, a group of youths arrived in an SUV and forcibly picked up a young man from the area near the petrol pump before fleeing the spot.
Acting swiftly on information, Bhadrak Town Police Station IIC Prabhansu Sekhar Mishra and his team intercepted the vehicle shortly after the incident and rescued the abducted youth safely.
Police detained three accused persons in connection with the case, while two others managed to escape from the spot. A search operation has been launched to trace the absconding accused.
Preliminary investigation suggests that the abduction may be linked to a financial dispute involving a cashew business transaction worth around Rs 70 lakh. Officials said the victim is believed to have come from Ganjam in connection with the deal and was allegedly targeted in Bhadrak over a monetary dispute.
Further investigation is underway to verify the financial angle and establish the full sequence of events.
