Bhubaneswar: A construction worker was killed after a concrete mixer overturned at a bridge construction site in Tilisingi village under Bhanjanagar police limits in Ganjam district on Sunday.
The deceased has been identified as Madan Singh (40), a native of Latehar district in Jharkhand.
According to reports, the incident took place around 3 pm when construction work was in progress at the site. The concrete mixer machine reportedly lost balance and overturned, trapping workers in the vicinity and getting partially buried under soil.
The driver of the vehicle, Prabhanjan Mallick of Bhadrak district, managed to jump out of the machine in time and sustained minor injuries. He was provided preliminary medical assistance at the site.
Following the incident, the fire brigade team rushed to the site and launched a rescue operation. After nearly three hours of effort using two JCB machines, the body of Madan Singh was recovered from beneath the debris.
Senior police officials, including SDPO Dr. Deepak Kumar Mishra and Bhanjanagar IIC Subbulakshmi Pujari, reached the spot and initiated an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.
