WAG Events Conclude At Gymnastics Nationals In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: The Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG) events of the Junior & Senior Artistic Gymnastics National Championships 2026–27 concluded on Sunday with exciting apparatus finals at the Gymnastics High Performance Centre, Kalinga Stadium, here.

The final day saw strong performances from gymnasts across the country, bringing the curtain down on a competitive edition of the national championships.

In the Senior Women’s Artistic Gymnastics category, Niranjana Punia (Haryana) clinched gold in the Balance Beam event, followed by Anoushka Patil (Maharashtra) and Priyanshi Bansal (Odisha). In the Floor Exercise, Karishma (RSPB) secured the top position, while Ashmi Debnath (West Bengal) and Eshitaa Rewale (Maharashtra) finished second and third respectively.

Eshitaa Rewale (Maharashtra) bagged the Vault gold medal, with Piyasa Kundu (RSPB) taking silver and Soumili Karar (West Bengal) winning bronze. In Uneven Bars, Tannu (Odisha) topped the podium, followed by Diya Thakore (Gujarat) and Amani Dilshad (Kerala).

In the Junior Women’s Artistic Gymnastics category, Anusua Howlader (West Bengal) won the Balance Beam event, ahead of Shreyanshi Roy (Tripura) and Shreya Ghosh (West Bengal). Sreeparna Debnath (Tripura) emerged winner in Floor Exercise, while Shreyanshi Roy (Tripura) and Dhanishtha Ugalmugle (Maharashtra) finished second and third.

Vaishnavi Vyas (Telangana) claimed gold in Vault, followed by Shreyanshi Roy (Tripura) and Tora Sani (West Bengal). In Uneven Bars, Paromita Bera (West Bengal) secured first place, with Abhidha Singh Dev (Uttar Pradesh) and Sakshi Dalvi (Maharashtra) completing the podium finish.

The concluding day was attended by several dignitaries, including Suryabanshi Suraj, Minister for Sports & Youth Services; Sambit Patra, Member of Parliament from Puri; Olympian and Padma Shri awardee Dipa Karmakar; Dronacharya Awardee Bishweshwar Nandi; Yeddula Vijay, Director of Sports, Odisha; along with senior officials and representatives from the sports and corporate sectors.

With the completion of the WAG events, the Junior & Senior Artistic Gymnastics National Championships 2026–27 came to a close, highlighting the growing depth of talent and rising standards of gymnastics in the country.

Officials noted that Odisha continues to strengthen its position as a preferred destination for hosting major national sporting events.
