Bhubaneswar: Leader of Opposition and BJD president Naveen Patnaik will visit the flood-ravaged Ganjam district on November 7 to take stock of the situation and meet affected families in the four worst-hit blocks.
According to sources, Patnaik will tour various areas of Hinjili, Aska, Seragada, and Sorada blocks — among the most severely impacted by the recent floods triggered by heavy rainfall associated with Cyclone Arnab.
During the visit, he is expected to interact with affected residents, assess the extent of damage to homes, crops, and infrastructure, and review ongoing relief and restoration efforts.
The former Chief Minister has already expressed deep concern over the hardships faced by people in Ganjam. He had earlier spoken to the District Collector and deputed a senior BJD team to assess the ground situation. The upcoming personal visit underscores his focus on standing with the people of the district during this difficult time.
Floodwaters had inundated large parts of these blocks, disrupting road connectivity, damaging houses, and affecting livelihoods. Relief camps, distribution of essentials, and restoration work have been underway, with the situation gradually improving in many areas.
Patnaik’s November 7 tour is expected to provide further impetus to relief measures and convey solidarity to the flood-affected families of Hinjili, Aska, Seragada, and Sorada.
