Deogarh: Tension erupted in Dudhianali village under Tileibani block in Deogarh district after angry villagers tied up three workers of Energy Department to a pole, demanding immediate restoration of power supply.
The incident occurred after four days of prolonged power outage in the village following the recent Kaalbaisakhi (nor’wester). Frustrated residents allegedly restrained the workers who had come to repair the electricity line. The agitated villagers tied them to an electricity pole and demanded the arrival of senior officials at the spot to resolve the issue.
The villagers alleged that due to the prolonged disruption in power supply, their crops and vegetable fields have been severely damaged. They claimed that despite repeated complaints, the concerned department officials failed to restore power, which forced them to take this extreme step.
Upon receiving information, police from the Kansar outpost police rushed to the spot along with electricity department officials. After persuasion and assurance from the authorities, the villagers released the employees.
Local residents expressed deep frustration over the delay in restoration work, especially during this period of intense heat.
Further investigation into the matter is underway.
