Bhubaneswar: In a significant move to strengthen security protocols, the Home Department of the Odisha government has issued a strict advisory to all senior police and district officials regarding the leakage of sensitive information during Very Important Persons (VVIP) visits.

The circular, issued by Additional Secretary to Government Bhabesh Kumar Nayak, , directs top officials including the Director General of Police, Director of Intelligence, all District Collectors, District Magistrates, and Superintendents of Police to exercise utmost caution while handling sensitive data.

Strict due diligence must be maintained in handling and sharing sensitive information such as minute-to-minute programmes, security arrangements, and other operational details related to VVIP visits.

The circular emphasizes preventing any unauthorized transmission or leakage of such information.

“It is therefore, requested to emphasize strict due diligence in handling and sharing of sensitive information viz. minute-to-minute programme, details of security arrangements, other operational matters to prevent unauthorized transmission”, read the circular.

The directive has been issued with reference to a letter from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India (dated 24.11.2025), which had earlier highlighted the need for preventive measures against such leaks.

The Home Department has asked all concerned departments to take immediate note of the instructions and ensure strict compliance to safeguard sensitive operational matters during high-profile visits.
