Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has announced free bus travel for candidates appearing in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) Re-Examination 2026, scheduled to be held on June 21 across the state.
In a communication issued by the Commerce and Transport Department on Thursday, Special Secretary Debadutta Suranjita Jena informed the Chairman-cum-Managing Director of the Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC) and the Transport Commissioner, State Transport Authority (STA), that Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has approved the measure to facilitate hassle-free travel for examinees.
The decision has been taken with the objectives of reducing the risk of heatstroke during peak summer conditions, supporting economically weaker students and ensuring equitable access to examination centres.
Candidates will be allowed to travel free of cost on buses upon production of a valid NEET (UG) Re-Examination 2026 admit card. The re-examination is scheduled to be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in 134 examination centres across Odisha.
The Commerce and Transport Department has directed OSRTC and the STA to take immediate steps for implementation of the scheme in coordination with district administrations, the Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) system and the Higher Education Department.
The department has also asked the concerned authorities to regularly report the progress of implementation to the government. The directive has been marked as “Top Most Urgent”.
The initiative is expected to benefit thousands of students travelling to examination centres from different parts of the state and help ensure timely and safe access to the venues amid prevailing summer conditions.
