Bhubaneswar: The Health and Family Welfare Department has asked the Jagatsinghpur Collector to expedite land acquisition and alienation for the proposed Government Medical College at Neopur village under Jagatsinghpur Tahasil in the district.
In a letter to the Collector and District Magistrate, the department said identified private land measuring 28.32 acres out of 33.92 acres and government land measuring 19.87 acres out of 27.73 acres in Neopur village is required for the project.
The land parcels are contiguous and free from encumbrance or litigation. The department has directed that the Record of Rights (RoR) for both land parcels must be recorded in favour of the Health and Family Welfare Department before initiating the process to establish the medical college.
The Collector has been requested to initiate land acquisition of the identified 28.32 acres of private land under the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation, and Resettlement Act, 2013. Steps have also been sought for alienation of the identified 19.87 acres of government land in favour of the Health and Family Welfare Department.
The department has asked the Collector to furnish an action plan, current status of the identified land, and timelines for completing both acquisition and alienation processes at the earliest to smoothen further steps for setting up the medical college.
