Bhubaneswar: After a brief lull of two days, the Southwest Monsoon has once again advanced into several more districts of Odisha today.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) confirmed that the monsoon has further progressed into parts of the state on June 15. While the monsoon had entered some districts of north coastal Odisha on June 12, it has now covered additional districts on Monday.
This fresh advancement is expected to bring much-needed rainfall across different parts of the state in the coming days. Several regions in Odisha have been experiencing hot and humid conditions with rising temperatures, making the arrival of the monsoon a welcome relief for farmers and the general public.
Met sources indicate that the monsoon is likely to cover the entire state gradually over the next few days, depending on weather system movements.
The IMD has urged people to remain prepared for thundershowers and gusty winds that usually accompany the monsoon onset.
