Bhubaneswar: President Droupadi Murmu is scheduled to arrive in Odisha today for a two-day official visit, even as Prime Minister Narendra Modi prepares to join her tomorrow, which marks the President’s birthday.
According to the official programme, the President will land at Dandbose Airstrip in Mayurbhanj district at 3:45 pm this afternoon. In the evening, she will inaugurate the AIIMS Satellite Centre at Rairangpur in Mayurbhanj district.
On Saturday, President Murmu and Prime Minister Modi will visit Pahadpur village — the President’s native place — where both leaders will pay floral tributes at the statue of her late husband, Shyam Charan Murmu. Following the tribute, they will visit a Skill Development Institute established in Pahadpur and interact with trained and employed youth from the centre.
Later, PM Modi and President Droupadi Murmu are scheduled to participate in a programme to mark two years of the BJP government in Odisha. The event is scheduled to be held at Dandabose at 1 pm tomorrow.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi among other prominent leaders will also attend the public meeting. A short film titled ‘Bikashara Dhara, Odisha Sara’ will be screened on the occasion.
During the programme, President Murmu is expected to inaugurate several important projects and lay the foundation stone of key railway initiatives as well as a new project of Bharat Coal Gasification and Chemicals Limited (BCGCL). Later, both the President and the Prime Minister will address the gathering. They are scheduled to return to Delhi after the programme.
