Sambalpur: In yet another shocking incident of mob violence, a man was brutally assaulted by a group of youths in Sambalpur on suspicion of being a child-lifter, just days after a similar incident was reported from Rayagada’s Kalyansingpur area.

Shocking visuals of the incident have surfaced on social media, showing the man lying on the ground in a serious condition while several youths repeatedly kick and beat him. In another video, the mob is seen surrounding the victim, checking his bag, and continuing the assault.

Upon receiving information, Khetrajpur Police reached the spot and rescued the injured man before taking him to the police station.

During interrogation, police came to know that that the victim is a native of Kerala who speaks Malayalam. He had come to Sambalpur in search of employment. Due to the language barrier, locals in the Dhubapada area of Badabazar misunderstood him and wrongly suspected him of being a child-lifter.

Meanwhile, police have stated that no case has been registered in this matter so far.
