Bhubaneswar: The southwest monsoon advanced further into Odisha today, with the monsoon trough now moving through Balangir and Sundargarh districts in the western part of the state and covering additional districts, informed the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
According to the IMD, active cloud cover persists over the Bay of Bengal due to the influence of southwest monsoon flow. Because of this, monsoon-induced rainfall is continuing in many places across the state.
The further progression of the trough is expected to enhance rainfall activity over western Odisha in the coming days. Other parts of the state are also likely to receive light to moderate showers under the influence of the active monsoon conditions. The weather department has said the monsoon is expected to cover more areas of Odisha if the current conditions persist.
