Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Police has placed Inspector Sujit Kumar Das, former Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) of Sarankul Police Station in Nayagarh district, under suspension over allegations of misconduct and dereliction of duty.
According to an official order issued by Director General of Police (DGP) Yogesh Bahadur Khurania on Monday, the action was taken after the department decided to initiate disciplinary proceedings against the officer. Das, who is currently attached to the District Police Office, Nayagarh, has been suspended with immediate effect.
The order further states that a departmental inquiry is being contemplated into alleged lapses in the discharge of his official responsibilities.
During the suspension period, Das will remain under the disciplinary control of the Inspector General of Police, Central Range, Cuttack. As per service rules, he will be entitled to subsistence allowance along with dearness allowance under Rule 90 of the Orissa Service Code.
Further course of action will depend on the outcome of the departmental inquiry.
