Bhubaneswar: A newborn baby boy was found abandoned in roadside bushes near a primary school at Raghunathpur village under Turumunga police station limits in Kendujhar district on Saturday morning.

According to reports, a local woman heard the cry of an infant while passing through the area. She immediately alerted villagers, following which ASHA and Anganwadi workers reached the spot along with police personnel. The team rescued the newborn from the bushes and rushed him to Udayapur Community Health Centre (CHC) for medical attention.

Doctors at the CHC said the condition of the baby is stable and he is under observation.

Police have launched an investigation to trace those responsible for abandoning the child and to ascertain the circumstances leading to the incident.
