Bhubaneswar: The mortal remains of three young Odia migrant workers who lost their lives in the tragic gas leak incident in Tamil Nadu reached their native villages in Keonjhar district on Saturday.
The bodies of Rita Juang from Tangiri village, Sumitra Juang from Pitanali village, and Dipanjali Juang from Tala Raidihi village were brought back to their respective homes, plunging the entire area into an atmosphere of profound grief and mourning.
It is pertinent to mention that all three belonged to the Juang tribal community.
The return of the bodies has triggered deep sorrow in the respective villages. Family members and locals are mourning the untimely demise of the three young women.
According to villagers, Sumitra Juang had cleared her Class X board examinations with good marks but could not pursue higher studies due to poor financial condition of the family. She migrated to Tamil Nadu with the hope of earning money to continue her education.
Her mother said her daughter had left home with big dreams of funding her college education, but unfortunately lost her life before she could fulfil her aspirations.
The tragic incident occurred on Sunday at a private seafood processing and export unit in Tiruvallur district of Tamil Nadu.
Reports said around 120 migrant workers from Odisha, Assam, and Jharkhand were working in the factory when the gas leak mishap took place.
