Balasore: Two people were killed after being struck by lightning in separate incidents in Baleshwar district on Monday, police said.
In the first incident, 65-year-old Kanaklata Palei was struck by lightning while she was on the roof of her house drying clothes in the Chunabhati area under Baleshwar Town Police Station limits. She died on the spot, police said.
In another incident, 68-year-old Madhusudan Mahank of Mirjapur Jhinkiria village under Baleshwar Sadar Police Station limits was killed after being struck by lightning while returning home with his cow from a field.
The bodies of both deceased have been sent to the Baleshwar District Headquarters Hospital for postmortem examination.
Police have registered separate cases and initiated further investigation into the incidents.
