In July 2021, Priyanka Priyadarshani Sahu in Bhimtangi, Bhubaneswar was brutally murdered by Jagannath Pradhan, a resident of Jajpur, who had a one-sided love affair with the woman. The incident had created a stir across the state. The murder was pre-planned and motivated by one-sided love.
Priyanka Priyadarshani Sahu was previously married. She lived in Bhimtangi with her husband and 3-year-old son. The accused, Jagannath Pradhan, was from the Jajpur area. He knew Priyanka earlier and was in one-sided love with her.
Jagannath had planned the murder about 4 days before the incident. At around 9 am on the day of the incident, Priyanka’s husband had gone to the office. Taking the opportunity, Jagannath entered Priyanka’s house with a knife and poison.
Jagannath forced Priyanka to elope with him and marry him. Priyanka flatly refused. This led to a fight and scuffle. Enraged, Jagannath brutally murdered Priyanka by slitting her throat with a knife.
Priyanka’s three-year-old son was sleeping inside the house at the time and survived. The court has now pronounced the verdict in the case, sentencing Jagannath Pradhan to life imprisonment.
