Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department’s Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar has issued a nowcast warning for 14 districts of Odisha predicting thunderstorm accompanied by lightning, light to moderate rainfall, and gusty winds reaching up to 40 kmph within the next three hours.
The alert, issued at 08:25 am today, covers the districts of Angul, Ganjam, Kendrapara, Dhenkanal, Nayagarh, Puri, Gajapati, Jagatsinghpur, Bargarh, Sonepur, Kandhamal, Sambalpur, Jajpur, and Cuttack, including Cuttack city. The duty officer has advised people in these regions to remain vigilant and keep a close watch on the weather for any worsening conditions.
Residents, especially those engaged in outdoor activities, farmers, and travellers, have been urged to take necessary precautions against lightning and strong winds. Motorists have been advised to drive cautiously due to possible reduced visibility and slippery roads, while people in vulnerable structures or near tall trees and open fields should exercise extra caution during the thunderstorms.
