Dhenkanal: A wedding celebration turned tragic in Dhenkanal district on Friday after a lightning strike claimed the life of one member of a wedding procession and left two others seriously injured.
The deceased has been identified as Amin Behera of Koilipangi village. The injured, Tapan Jena and Manoj Dehuri, were rushed to a nearby hospital, where they are undergoing treatment.
According to reports, the incident occurred on Friday afternoon when a wedding procession was travelling from Jhumpudia to Ranja village. The group was caught in sudden lightning, causing three members of the procession to collapse.
The victims were immediately shifted to a hospital. Doctors declared Amin Behera dead on arrival, while the condition of the two injured persons is stated to be serious.
The incident has cast a pall of gloom over the area, with the wedding festivities turning into mourning following the tragic mishap.
