Bhubaneswar: Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Jagmohan Meena has submitted his resignation to the state government, citing personal reasons.
According to sources, Meena, a 2013-batch IPS officer of the Odisha cadre, tendered his resignation recently. The exact reasons behind his decision are not yet officially known, though there is speculation that he may be planning to join a private company owned by a close relative in Rajasthan.
A 2013-batch officer, Jagmohan Meena has held several important positions in the state police. He previously served as Superintendent of Police (SP) in Angul and Ganjam districts. He also served as Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) in the Cuttack Urban Police District. He was posted as Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Bhubaneswar on February 28, 2025.
While the state government is yet to formally accept his resignation, his sudden decision has come as a surprise within police circles.
Meena’s resignation comes amid mounting pressure on the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Commissionerate Police, which has been widely criticised over its handling of the recent daylight murder of Railway Constable Soumya Ranjan Swain at Balianta.
Further details are awaited.
