Bhubaneswar: In a heart-wrenching incident, a wild elephant killed an elderly man by dragging him out of his house and trampling him to death in the Koida area of Sundargarh district.
According to reports, the deceased was sleeping inside his home when the rogue elephant entered the premises, pulled him out, and attacked him. As a result, he died on the spot.
Following the tragedy, agitated locals blocked the road, demanding immediate compensation for the victim’s family, and a permanent solution to the recurring elephant menace in the region. Villagers alleged that repeated elephant attacks have severely disrupted normal life in the area.
The incident has once again highlighted the growing human-elephant conflict in the district. Residents have expressed serious concern over the lack of effective measures to control the frequent elephant depredation.
