Jharsuguda: Notorious criminal Ankit Ghosh was injured in a police encounter near Ib River OPM Ghat under the Brajrajnagar police jurisdiction in the wee hours of Monday.
According to sources, Ankit opened fire upon spotting a police team. In retaliation, police fired back, hitting him in the right leg. He was immediately shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital for treatment in Jharsuguda.
A firearm and live cartridges were recovered from the spot. Ankit has a long criminal history with around seven serious cases registered against him in various police stations, including charges of murder and dacoity.
Further investigation into the incident is underway.
