Sambalpur: A youth was allegedly murdered near the Pataneshwari Temple under the jurisdiction of the Town Police Station in Sambalpur district late on Tuesday night.
Police have detained two persons for questioning in connection with the incident, while the motive behind the crime is yet to be established.
The deceased has been identified as Chintu Bansal, a resident of Tiwari Gali in Sambalpur town.
According to reports, local residents spotted Bansal lying in a pool of blood near the temple and immediately alerted the Town Police. A police team rushed to the spot, recovered the body, and sent it for post-mortem examination.
Preliminary investigation suggests that the youth was murdered, although the exact sequence of events leading to the crime is still being verified.
As part of the investigation, two persons have been detained and are being questioned regarding their possible involvement in the case.
Police said more details are expected to emerge as the investigation progresses and after the post-mortem report is received.
